Mexico has a long mining history dating back over 700 years to the conquest of the Aztecs by the Spanish. Since then the Country has continued the expansion of the industry through local investment and government funding for mining exploration and development. In 1992 the Mexican mining laws were changed in anticipation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. The new laws allowed 100% foreign ownership of Mexican Mines, thus beginning the inflow of foreign capital and expertise in the Mexican mining sector.
Since the country's deregulation in the early nineties Mexico has developed into one of the top 10 most attractive regions in the world for exploration and mining, according to The Fraser Institute and other similar comparative studies. Some of the factors that have contributed to the country's positive reputation include, permitting structures, favorable tax, political stability, strong mining culture, and excellent geology.
The Riverside team has been active in Mexico for over 20 years. Dr. John-Mark Staude, President & CEO of Riverside Resources, began developing the strategic resources database for the U.S. Geological Survey in 1987 on the ore deposits of Mexico. He continued to expand the database throughout both his professional and academic career. Miguel Heredia, Mexico Manager, was born in Fresnillo, Mexico and graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He has over 20 years of mining and exploration experience in precious and base metals. He managed exploration for BHP and Penoles in a variety of geological environments in Mexico. Riverside's Mexican Project Geologists bring in depth knowledge of mining in Mexico and strong exploration skills to the Riverside team.
REGIONAL GENERATIVE PROGRAM INFO:
- Western Gold Belt - The region is well endowed with large gold deposits like La Herradura (>3M Oz, Penoles-Newmont). There are also significant copper reserves at Cananea and La Caridad. Riverside Resources exploration team members have vast experience in this region, including significant contributions to the El Humo Cu Oxide and Cu Porphyry deposit discoveries in Sonora. The province is being prospected by Riverside's Mexican team for large gold and base metal discoveries. Properties include: Chapalota and Libertad.
- Sierra Madre Selective Evaluations - The region has numerous gold and silver epithermal deposits. Riverside Resources founder John-Mark Staude spent a number of years prospecting and drilling in the Sierra province and was part of the discovery history of the Mulatos Gold Deposit. The team has completed extensive targeting and knows this belt well. Riverside selectively evaluates areas using remote sensing, geochemical and geologic targeting and fieldwork in the province.
- Mesa Central Generative - The region contains some of the world's largest silver deposits and collectively hosts more silver than any other region on the planet. Riverside Resources' Mexico Manager Miguel Heredia grew up exploring the region and has been part of several ore discoveries. Riverside is now combining state-of-the-art geophysics, geochemistry, remote sensing, DEM, and GIS analysis to develop new targets and expand into areas previously underappreciated. Properties include: El Capitan.
- Southern Mexico Gold Belt - The region is a composite geologic terrane containing various igneous events and diverse ages of metallogeny. The Morelos deposit and the Nukay Mine, along with Los Filos and Bermejal, are some of the newest gold skarn deposits that are being developed and mined in the belt. Riverside's program in this region utilizes newly acquired scientific data combined with innovative exploration modeling to prospect for high-priority gold skarn, porphyry Cu and shear-zone gold deposits. Properties include: Cerro Azul and Ventosa.
