February 5, 2008 - Vancouver, British Columbia: Riverside Resources Inc. (TSX-V: RRI) has optioned the El Capitan property, a hot spring type gold property in Durango, Mexico near recent discoveries at San Augustin (Geologix) and Camino Rojo (Canplats) in the same Durango-Zacatecas metalliferous belt. The project is located in the Penoles district, where Compania Minera Penoles got its start over 100 years ago. The project has previous drilling that intersected gold mineralization and has undrilled surface extents of gold-bearing surface samples extending more than a kilometer.

Explorers with Riverside Resources have worked in the Durango-Zacatecas belt for nearly twenty years and have been part of >2 M oz Au equivalent discoveries in the past. Recent reinterpretation of the geology at El Capitan suggests potential for a hot spring gold deposit. Carl Nelson, VP Exploration for RRI, says, "El Capitan has excellent potential for a hot spring-related, epithermal vein stockwork deposit." An exploration program led by RRI will include surface mapping, sampling and geophysics to determine priority drill targets that will be followed up rapidly by drilling.

President and CEO, John-Mark Staude states, "With hot-spring deposit type exploration experts on our staff we are enthusiastic and optimistic about this property and look forward to developing excellent drill targets."

The terms of the option agreement provide Riverside the ability to earn a 100% interest in the Capitan property. Riverside will initially pay US$25,000 and issue 20,000 shares on acceptance for filing of the agreement by the TSX Venture Exchange. To earn its 100% interest Riverside has to pay US$450,000 in cash, issue a maximum of 1,980,000 shares and incur US$1,650,000 in property expenditures over a 4-year period. The Mexican partner will receive a 2% NSR which can be bought down to 1.5% by paying US$500,000.
